Identidades was premiered in Cuba as part of a concert dedicated to several folklorist composers and was commissioned by the Ensemble Habana XXI. The piece is dedicated to composers who, through their music, reflect the sound identity of their country.

This music is mainly composed of Cuban folkloric genres such as guajira, zapateo and Afro-Cuban rhythms. Along with these genres, I used the collage technique to quote the two most important Cuban folkloric composers from early 20th century, Amadeo Roldán and Alejandro García Caturla.

The work also features two melodies inspired by composer Heitor Villa-Lobos to honor him as one of the foremost Latin American composers during the 20th and 21st centuries.
