This composition was written for the 2019 Nuestra América composition competition. It is dedicated to the José White String Quartet, which sponsored the competition The work serves as a tribute to Cuban culture, highlighting the rich African heritage that shapes our identity. The title does not reference a specific carnival or festivity, but rather captures the quintessential festive spirit of the Cuban people. This quality is reflected in the work's tempo and rhythmic texture, which draw inspiration from the distinctive rhythms of the batá drums.
